Forget Resolutions - Forge a Masterplan for Success in 2026
As we stand at the starting line of 2026, I want to share an insight to a practice i have adopted for many years. In the video is the scene of where i spent some time yesterday curating my own plan for 2026.
Most people are busy talking about or scribbling down New Year’s resolutions that will be forgotten by February. To have a great year ahead, you don’t need a wish list — you need a Masterplan. I believe the next seven days are prime time for developing this Masterplan. This is your window to write a plan for your personal and professional success.
Here are five key coaching points for writing your Masterplan in the week ahead:
1. Step Away to Reset Your Personal Mission
Take time away from your office, your home, your workplace, and from people. Step back. Disconnect from your television, mobile phone, and all “noise-making devices.” Only then will you have the space to reset your personal mission. Your mission is your North Star — the guide that keeps you steady no matter how cloudy or bleak the path may look. If your mission doesn’t ignite a fire in you or inspire you to write a game‑changing Masterplan this week… it’s the wrong mission.
2. Define Meaningful & Measurable Goals
Vague goals create vague results. Set targets for both your professional and personal life. Yes, they should be SMART — but more importantly, they must be significant and meaningful. What are the five most meaningful goals that align with your mission, like stars aligning with the North Star?
3. Draft a Clear Masterplan
A goal without a plan is just a dream. Write down the specific actions and timelines needed to hit your goals. Ask yourself tough questions: Who will your accountability partner be? Who will your coach be? How much time will you invest? What skills do you need to master? What does a win look like in January? In July? Not just in December?
4. Design the Rituals & Habits That Will Carry You There
Success is built on what you do daily — not occasionally. What are the non‑negotiable rituals that will sustain your energy and focus? Maybe it’s a 5:00 AM meditation, a daily movement practice, a monthly personal strategy session, or a deep‑work block five days a week. Lock them in. These habits are the infrastructure of your success.
5. Reconnect With Your ‘Why’
Finally — and most importantly — why does this matter? When pressure hits, when motivation fades, when your energy dips, when others doubt you (and all of this will happen)… your Why keeps you in the hunt. Write down the driver behind your goals. If your Why is strong enough, the How becomes much easier.
Commit 2 Lead yourself toward success.
Let’s make 2026 a year of growth, success, fulfilment, and authentic leadership.
Happy New Year to you and your families!
