In today’s always-connected world, many leaders, athletes and professionals are experiencing the negative effects of constant digital noise. Social media, breaking news alerts and endless notifications can reduce focus, increase anxiety and make it harder to stay present in our daily lives.
In this short reflection, Enda McNulty, founder of McNulty Performance, shares his recent decision to step away from social media and media channels in order to reconnect with what truly matters.
Disconnect + Reconnect + Recharge + Repurpose + Refresh + Reset = Renew
Time to Reconnect and Fully Engage with What Matters Most
In the last few months in my work with professional athletes, leaders, and our global community at McNulty Performance, as well as listening to family and friends, I’ve noticed a common struggle. We all have experienced this struggle.
The constant noise of social media and the 24/7 negative news cycle is taking a heavy toll on people’s mental and emotional health. It’s stealing our focus from loved ones, lowering our self-esteem, and creating a wave of anxiety that is the opposite of what I believe in regard to proactive wellbeing.
To be the best I can be as a coach, entrepreneur, husband, son and most importantly father, I have started over the last few weeks to totally disconnect and disengage from all social media and media channels.
Aside from reading a trusted newspaper once a week, I will aim to continue to totally disconnect and so fully engage in what is most important to me for at least a few more weeks.
I invite you to do the same.
Yours in full engagement,
Enda McNulty
